Cubs Need
Outdoor Space
The District’s Phase 1 plan for “Bexley’s Next 100 Years” would remove all open space at Cassingham and in Central Bexley.
This hurts our school, our property values, and most importantly our kids.
Inequity Among Elementary Campuses
Phase 1 Plan:
Montrose: Enhanced field to ensure year-round access to expanded outdoor playfield for approximately 330 elementary students.
Maryland: Enhanced field to ensure year-round access to expanded outdoor playfield for approximately 330 elementary students.
Cassingham: 70% reduction of the outdoor playfield for approximately 500 elementary students (and shared with Bexley MS and HS).
No Open Space in Central Bexley
There are no alternative outdoor spaces within walking distance of Cassingham.
Kids would need to walk 20+ minutes across major roads to play soccer, football, softball, or even just run around.
We all know that access to outdoor space, exercise, and “big play” is critical for our kids’ health and development. Central Bexley kids need this.
Home Values and Neighborhood Desirability
Central Bexley would be one of the only suburban neighborhoods without walkable access to basic outdoor recreation. That is a tough sell for families. Our Central Bexley homes and neighborhood would be less desirable - at the same time our taxes would go up.

Many parents and community members are unaware that the Board’s proposal would leave our kids with no open outdoor space.
Help make sure Bexley knows what is at stake.
